Steelhead:
I guide for both winter and summer steelhead. My preferred method is nymphing. This is a highly efficient and elegant way to target steelhead. You can target fish that spey anglers can’t, and the fish eat nymphs happily. I would love to show you how to get it done, or help you get on some fish if you’re already a veteran.
I’m just as comfortable with the spey rod in my hand as I am with the nymph set up. If you can’t get enough of that tight line take, or you need a little help with your casting, I am happy to oblige. Spey fishing is exquisite and I’d be happy to help you get it done.
I’m new and young in the guiding business, and it’s a labor of love. I may not have all the amenities. I guide out of a raft that I have to deflate and throw in the back of my car at the end of everyday. But the quality of the fishing is just as good as the next guy.These are the trips I offer, but if you’ve always wanted to fish something, you can probably talk me into it:
- The CLACKAMAS: $550 for an 8 hour float
- The Nehalem: $600 for an 8 hour float (and you have to help with the shuttle)
- The NORTH SANTIAM: $550 for an 8 hour float
- The DESCHUTES: $600 to float, $450 to walk
I can provide the necessary fishing gear but you are welcome to use your own. You must bring your own waders and boots if they are needed. Lunch is provided.

Trout:
I love trout fishing! I grew up on trout and they will always have my heart. I guide trout trips all over the state but my premier offerings are on the Deschutes. It is one of the most iconic fisheries in the United States. The native ‘redband’ rainbow trout eagerly take flies year round and fight like crazy. This is a bucket-list river and will provide you a world class experience. You can expect to catch great numbers of mid-sized, incredibly fit, trout, with trophy class fish mixed in with some frequency. That said, my trips are as follows:
- The LOWER DESCHUTES: $600 to float, $400 to walk
- The CLACKAMAS: $500 to float
- The NORTH SANTIAM: $500 to float (We can do the white water section if I vet you first, but it is amazing water that almost nobody fishes)
